Nomads Story

The Nomads Story

Jeff and I have over 30 years of world travel experience between us. After returning home we realized the type of hotel experiences that we have enjoyed in remote places like Central America, Fiji, Tahiti, and Indonesia were unavailable here in the United States. Around the surf world you hear terms like, Ohana, Pura Vida, Aloha, Dolce Vida, etc…These words all translate the same; the feeling you get when you combine the power of the ocean with music, art, food, and great people. We created Nomads Hotel for you to experience this. The Nomads Team will personally escort you to the best surf spots and introduce you to all the many attractions San Clemente and the surrounding areas have to offer. We look forward to guiding you through your Nomads vacation.

You may arrive as a guest but you will leave as part of the Nomads family!

See you soon.

We were so lucky to “find” Nomads Hotel on Tripadvisor! My teen DD and I spent three days there on a trip to meet Bethany Hamilton! It was the perfect surf, beach place. We absolutely LOVED our room – the Bali Room – which is beautiful and huge! So comfy with room to spread out and a delightful bathroom. Beautiful artwork and objets d’arts from around the world. We loved being able to walk to the Pier as well as upstairs to the Canteen (reviewed separately) – and a great restaurant called Vine. Sean is a personable, helpful, cool host! What a cool place!

Awesome spot to stay, we had 10 nights in the USA from Australia, we booked 2 nights as we wanted to travel around. We found the staff, service, price, gorgeous location and Nomads canteen so great we stayed for the whole 10 nights! We travelled to Disney land, San Diego, Venice Beach, Laguna and Huntington Beach all from Nomads. Would totally recommend, can’t wait to go back.

They made special accomodation for us at the last minute, and we felt totally taken care of. Personable, down to earth, and generous owner Sean made our experience taking kids to surf SoCal (from Santa Cruz) extra special. He and the hotel generally are an example of the surf community at it’s best. Clean & well amenitied room was perfect for our tribe of 5. The variety of rooms they have for families, couples, weeklong or overnight is impressive. They got it all! And good food, too. Sure didn’t mind that beer upon arrival after many hours of driving… a nice touch indeed.

My wife and son just stayed for a night at in the Bali Room at Nomads, between surf days at San Onofre. It’s the perfect spot. A brand new room with a great vibe and all you need to catch some Z’s between sessions. The Canteen upstairs is unreal, with plenty of beers on tap and and outdoor patio to enjoy the sunset. Try one of the Poke bowls for a little taste of paradise. The shops on El Camino Real are only a short walk away, and the Pier is just down the road. This is the spot if you’re looking for something casual and comfortable in San Clemente. We’ll be back for the next swell. P.S.: Epic surf shots throughout the hotel take the island vibes theme to another level. Very cool.
